The Big Idea
“I don't want to remain a spectator to the decisions that shape my country and my future.”
More
From unemployment and unequal opportunities to social and gender injustice, the erosion of democratic institutions, centralisation of power, environmental degradation and growing social divisions, India's complex challenges demand active participation from its young people.
If you believe that change requires more than opinions, that it requires people willing to understand problems, engage with communities and turn ideas into action, it's time to step in.
Yuva Political Lab, powered by the Indian Youth Congress, is an opportunity to engage with public life, understand how political organising works, work on real-world challenges and explore your role in civic leadership, political organisations or electoral politics.
Don't just question the way things are. Be part of shaping what comes next.
The Challenges
India Has Problems. Let's Get to Work.
Democracy and institutions
How do we strengthen democratic accountability and ensure public power serves citizens?
Jobs and economic opportunity
How do we create meaningful employment and expand economic mobility?
Public education and healthcare
How do we make essential public services accessible, effective and accountable?
Social and gender justice
How do we build a society where dignity, equality and opportunity are realities for everyone?
Environment and sustainability
How do we address pollution, climate risks and the degradation of our natural resources?
Social harmony
How do we bridge divisions and build a society grounded in mutual respect and equal citizenship?
These are not just topics for discussion. They are real challenges that demand investigation, collaboration, practical solutions and action.

The Commitment
One Year. No Half-Hearted Politics.
Yuva Political Lab is a one-year commitment to hands-on political work. It demands time, energy, initiative and a willingness to take responsibility.
More
Here's something you should know about politics: it doesn't always stick to a calendar.
Campaigns happen. Events come up. Situations change. Sometimes the work needs you at short notice, after regular working hours or over a weekend. You'll need to be ready to respond when it matters. That said, we're here to build inclusive politics, not run a boot camp for robots. We understand that life happens — family responsibilities, personal commitments and unexpected emergencies included. We're reasonable people; just communicate and the team adjusts.
Can you manage your regular job alongside this commitment? If you can genuinely make the time and do both well, go for it. Just be honest with yourself about the time and energy you can give.
If you're serious about gaining practical political experience, this year can be worth a great deal. You'll work on live projects, engage on the ground, collaborate with different teams and experience what it takes to get things done in politics.
Come prepared to show up, adapt, take ownership and see the work through.

Things You Are Probably Wondering
Do I need a background in politics?
Nope. That's not the point. You don't need to know all the ins and outs of political organising on day one. You do need to be curious, willing to learn and ready to get involved.
Who can apply?
Indian citizens aged 25–40 with at least three years of professional experience. We welcome people from technology, finance, law, research, communications, design, healthcare, education, management, the arts and other fields. Check the Eligibility section for the full criteria.
Is this a classroom-based program?
Not at all. There will be classroom learning and training, but the real emphasis is on hands-on work, field engagement, teamwork and execution. You'll learn some things in a room. You'll learn plenty more by getting out there and doing the work.
Will I work on real projects?
Yes. The program is built around live political challenges and practical work. Project assignments and details will be shared with selected participants.
How long is the program?
One year. Come prepared to commit to the whole journey. See The Commitment for what we mean by commitment.
Is this like an internship?
No. It's a one-year executive program built around hands-on political work. You're not here just to observe or fetch things for someone else. You're here to bring your professional expertise to live projects, take ownership and gain meaningful experience in political strategy, organising and execution.
What about fees, compensation and expenses?
Let's get the money question out of the way. There's no participation fee, and there's also no stipend or salary for the program. If you incur out-of-pocket expenses on work pre-approved by the Indian Youth Congress, those expenses will be reimbursed in line with the organisation's reimbursement process.
How do I apply?
Complete the online application form and submit it before the application deadline, 30 November 2026. Don't leave it until the last minute!
